Elaph Special Acquisition Company (“ESAC”) is a newly formed AED100 million Dubai based company that invests in UAE businesses offering attractive growth prospects and returns. ESAC focuses on a select group of pre-identified sectors and target net annual returns of at least 25 percent over a 3 to 6 year period.
ESAC’s basic business model is to invest in small to mid-sized companies with Enterprise Values (‘EV’) ranging between AED20 – 80 million. ESAC seeks a controlling or shared-controlling stake that enables ESAC to enhance their values in a substantial manner.
This focused, hands-on investment approach makes for a unique business model that marries the discipline of the private equity investor with the flexibility of the investment company structure.
The opportunities identified by the Elaph fall within two main categories:
- Buyouts - Majority stakes in established companies; and
- Growth Capital - A capital injection, primarily used for expansion rather than cash-out, in return for significant stakes in existing enterprises
